Privacy & Security

Privacy and Security

Thank you for visiting www.heritagelace.com. At Heritage Lace, your personal privacy is very important to us and assures you that we will use your information responsibly. We will only ask for information that is necessary to properly process your order and provide you with an enjoyable shopping experience. You have the right to know what information is collected, how it is used and the security measures taken to protect your privacy.

Effective Date of this Privacy Policy

This policy is effective as of August 1, 2009

Collection and Use of Information

Heritage Lace collects two kinds of information when you visit our website:

  1. Information you give us

We receive and file the information you input on our website or provide in other ways. For example, when you make a purchase, we store that sales information to enable us to serve you better on your next visit. You can elect not to provide certain information, but doing so may preclude you from benefitting from some of our services. We use this information to communicate with you, respond to your requests, tailor our products to your needs and generally improve our services.

  2. Information we collect from your activities on our web site

Information is obtained as you navigate through our website, including traffic patterns and the number of pages you visit. This information helps us to make improvements to our website to better serve our customers’ needs. Upon processing your order, we store certain information received from your transaction with us. For example, like almost all websites, we use “cookies” (see below) to obtain certain types of information whenever your browser accesses our website. We may use this information to notify you of other products or services of interest to you, or to direct you to a retail shopping location near you. We may also use this information to help diagnose problems with our server or other technical problems relating to our website.

Information about our customers is one of our most valuable assets and we do not share or sell this information to others. We are committed to guarding your privacy and providing you with a private and secure shopping source.

Cookies

“Cookies” are unique identifiers, computer-generated to “tag” your computer when you access our site. They enable our system, as part of the ordering process, to recognize your browser. We use only “session cookies” which expire when you close your browser, not “persistent” ones that remain on your hard drive until you delete them. Please note the cookies do not contain any personally identifying information such as your name.

If you do not wish to receive cookies, your browser can be set up to reject them or alert you when one is placed on your computer. While you are not required to accept cookies, you may be unable to use all of the functions of this site if your browser rejects them.

Security

Heritage Lace protects the security of your information during transmission through the use of secure software, which encrypts the information you input which reduces the possibility that such information can be read by any unauthorized person. Any information collected by Heritage Lace is protected in private files behind the protection of a firewall designed to preclude access by outside users. We reveal only the last four digits of your credit card number when confirming an order. We must, of course, transmit the entire number to the appropriate credit card company in processing your order, but only in encrypted form.

We release account information only as required to comply with applicable laws; to enforce or apply our terms of use and other agreements; or to protect the rights, property, or safety of www.heritagelace.com , our customers or others. This may include exchanging information with other companies and organizations for fraud protection and credit risk reduction. It does not include selling, renting, sharing, or otherwise disclosing personally-identifiable customer information for commercial purposes, in violation of our commitments as set forth in the Privacy Policy.

To help us protect you against unauthorized access to your computer and password, always be sure to sign off when you finished using a shared computer.

Third Party Service Providers and Information

Heritage Lace may use others to perform such tasks as customer service, order fulfillment, delivery, mailing, editing customer lists, analyzing market date and processing credit card transactions. This may require access to personal information but these third parties will not be allowed to use it for any other purposes. Except for this necessary disclosure, no information is shared with third parties.

Our site may include links to third-party advertisers and other retail websites, but we do not provide them with any personally-identifiable customer information. We do not have access to, or control over, cookies or other features they may use, and their policies on information disclosure are not covered by this Heritage Lace Privacy Notice. Contact them directly for more information about their privacy practices.
